This is Growthplanner

Cities grow fast. Planning where water, gas and electricity will go to supply new business and homes is complicated.

Amongst the biggest challenges city planners and developers face when planning major development is "will there be the infrastructure there to support this”? Utilities wrestle with how to plan their expensive network capacity upgrades without a reasonable forecast of what major developments are planned.

Our app combines strategic information so utilities and planners can work closely together, today and in the future.

Key features

City Infrastructure Capacity

Mapping location of sub station. Applying rating methodology to current and predicted strategic housing data. Visualising proximity to utility via heatmap. Methodology able to model over time in unison with SHLAA policy.

Public Transport Connectivity

Using heatmaps to visualise proximity to places of work with travel times. Using isochrones to visualise journey times across the city.

Development Constraints

Warns the user of a range of constraints that may affect proposed development. Flooding, conservation areas, listed buildings.

Development Site Explorer

Using map scale filter range of sites to view. Select site to view status details, capacity, connectivity and constraints. Create comparisons and explore the city via satellite view.

City information modelling

Through our research we have identified many inefficiencies in the current planning system, chief amongst them the poor use of data. We believe that one way of resolving this is a City Information Model, which would be the means by which developers submitted their planning application; consultants analysed the current city and forecast future change; planners tweaked policies in light of live data; and citizens understood and co-designed new development in their neighbourhood.
